May cause CNS disturbances (dangerous in children); consider psychotic reactions and behavioural disturbances due to anticholinergic hypersensitivity. • Tropicamide: Blocks the response of the iris sphincter muscle and ciliary muscle to cholinergic stimulation, producing pupil dilation (mydriasis) and, at 1%, paralysis of accommodation (US Mydriacyl label).
