• Most common: constipation. • Chronic use may cause bleeding tendency from vitamin K deficiency (hypoprothrombinaemia), reduced folate, and hyperchloraemic acidosis (especially in younger/smaller patients); caution in renal insufficiency, volume depletion or with spironolactone; may cause or worsen constipation.International label, same formulation · DailyMed (NLM)
