Isopto Cetamide sulfacetamide sodium 150 mg/mL (15%) sterile ophthalmic solution, 15 mL, a sulfonamide antibacterial for superficial eye infections.

• Most frequent: local irritation, stinging and burning. • For topical eye use only, not for injection. Rare fatalities from severe sulfonamide reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, fulminant hepatic necrosis, agranulocytosis, aplastic anaemia) have occurred; sensitisation may recur on re-administration by any route. • No animal reproduction studies with sulfonamide ophthalmic preparations; kernicterus may occur in the newborn after oral sulfonamides at term.
