Morgabilon 1 mg tablets (Global Pharmaceutical Industries, Egypt): repaglinide, a short-acting meglitinide (glinide) insulin secretagogue for type 2 diabetes; pack of 30 tablets.

• Hypoglycemia is the most common reaction (mild-moderate in 31% vs 7% placebo). Other common reactions (>=2%): upper respiratory infection (16%), headache (11%), sinusitis, arthralgia (6%), nausea, diarrhea, back pain (5%), constipation, vomiting, paresthesia, chest pain. • Repaglinide: Closes ATP-dependent potassium channels in pancreatic beta-cell membranes, depolarizing the cell and opening calcium channels so that insulin is released; action depends on functioning beta cells and diminishes at low glucose.
