Thyrocil propylthiouracil 50 mg tablets, pack of 30 (Amoun, Egypt); antithyroid agent.

• Severe: hepatitis/liver failure, agranulocytosis, aplastic anaemia, thrombocytopenia, drug fever, lupus-like syndrome, vasculitis, nephritis, interstitial pneumonitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome. • Boxed warning: severe liver injury and acute liver failure, sometimes fatal or requiring transplantation; reserve for patients who cannot tolerate methimazole and in whom surgery or radioiodine are not appropriate.
