• Very common: extrapyramidal disorders (tremor, rigidity, hypokinesia, hypersalivation, akathisia, dyskinesia). Common: acute dystonia, somnolence, insomnia, anxiety, agitation, orgasmic dysfunction, blurred vision, hypotension, constipation, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, increased prolactin (galactorrhoea, amenorrhoea, gynaecomastia, breast pain, erectile dysfunction), weight gain. • Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (stop treatment); dose-dependent QT prolongation - caution in bradycardia, hypokalaemia, congenital long QT or with QT-prolonging drugs; hyperglycaemia/metabolic effects; lowers seizure threshold; increased mortality and stroke risk in elderly patients with dementia; venous thromboembolism; hyperprolactinaemia (caution with breast cancer history; pituitary tumours); leukopenia, neutropenia and agranulocytosis; severe liver toxicity reported; avoid in Parkinson's disease unless essential; withdraw gradually to avoid withdrawal symptoms; contains lactose.International label, same formulation · electronic medicines compendium (eMC)
