• Most frequent in a 3-week controlled trial: paresthesia (18.3%), piloerection (13.4%), dysuria/urinary retention/urgency/frequency (13.4%), pruritus mainly of the scalp (12.2%), supine hypertension (7.3%), chills (4.9%), pain (4.9%) and rash. • A slight slowing of heart rate (vagal reflex) may occur; use caution with cardiac glycosides, psychopharmacologic agents, beta-blockers or other drugs that reduce heart rate, and stop the drug if signs of bradycardia appear.
