Fixed-dose combination of amlodipine 10 mg and atorvastatin 10 mg in film-coated tablets (Amlostat, Unipharma, Egypt), for patients needing both a calcium channel blocker and a statin; 10 tablets.

• Myopathy and rhabdomyolysis (risk increased with higher atorvastatin doses, age >=65, uncontrolled hypothyroidism, renal impairment and certain concomitant drugs); discontinue if CK is markedly elevated or myopathy is diagnosed or suspected. • Amlodipine: Inhibits transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, acting as a peripheral arterial vasodilator.
• Atorvastatin: Selective, competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme converting HMG-CoA to mevalonate, a precursor of cholesterol.
