Arabcofloroquin is an Egyptian ciprofloxacin (as lactate) 2 mg/ml solution for intravenous infusion by Arabcomed: each 100 ml glass vial contains 232.88 mg ciprofloxacin lactate equivalent to 200 mg ciprofloxacin; a fluoroquinolone antibacterial for serious bacterial infections.

• Adults: lower respiratory tract infections due to Gram-negative bacteria (COPD exacerbations, broncho-pulmonary infection in cystic fibrosis or bronchiectasis, pneumonia); chronic suppurative otitis media; acute exacerbation of chronic sinusitis; urinary tract infections; genital tract infections (epididymo-orchitis, PID); gastro-intestinal and intra-abdominal infections; skin and soft-tissue infections due to Gram-negative bacteria; malignant external otitis; bone and joint infections; febrile neutropenia (with other agents); inhalation anthrax.Population: AdultsIrish Medicines Board (now HPRA)

• Most frequent: nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, transient increase in transaminases, rash, and injection/infusion-site reactions. • BOXED WARNING (US): fluoroquinolones have been associated with disabling and potentially irreversible serious adverse reactions occurring together, including tendinitis and tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy and central nervous system effects; discontinue immediately and avoid fluoroquinolones in patients who experience them. May exacerbate muscle weakness in myasthenia gravis (avoid in patients with a history of it).
