• Enquire about previous hypersensitivity to penicillins, cephalosporins or other beta-lactams. Serious and occasionally fatal hypersensitivity reactions (including anaphylactoid and severe cutaneous adverse reactions) have been reported and may progress to Kounis syndrome; they are more likely with a history of penicillin hypersensitivity and in atopic individuals. • Animal studies show no harmful effects and limited human data do not indicate an increased risk of congenital malformations.
