  • Boxed warning - lactic acidosis: post-marketing cases of metformin-associated lactic acidosis, sometimes fatal; risk factors include renal impairment, concomitant carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (e.g. topiramate), age 65 or older, radiological studies with contrast, surgery and other procedures, hypoxic states, excessive alcohol intake and hepatic impairment. كيف يعمل الدواءHow it works
  • ميتفورمين هيدروكلوريد: يقلل إنتاج الكبد للجلوكوز وامتصاصه من الأمعاء ويحسن حساسية الإنسولين بزيادة امتصاص الأنسجة الطرفية للجلوكوز واستخدامه. وتشير قيم PubChem إلى الميتفورمين القاعدي.بيجوانيد
  • Metformin hydrochloride: Decreases hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilisation (US label). PubChem values refer to metformin base.
